How do I
get my computer to recognize the PhoneTree® hardware?
Occasionally users have difficulty getting their computer to recognize that the
PhoneTree® unit is connected. If you are experiencing this, follow these steps
in order:
- Confirm that the PhoneTree® wall transformer is plugged into the POWER
port on the back of the unit, and that the other end is plugged into an operational
wall outlet. The green light on the front of the unit will be ON.
- Confirm that the PhoneTree® USB cable is firmly plugged into both the USB
port on the back of the PhoneTree® unit AND the other end is plugged
into an available USB port on the back (or front) of your PC.
- Check to see if your PC recognizes your PhoneTree® unit by doing
the following: right-click the My Computer icon on your computer desktop
and choose Properties. Click on the Device Manager, then scroll
down to Universal Serial Bus controllers. Click on the + sign next
to its icon. You should see the following devices (exact descriptions vary)
at a minimum: Host Controller, USB Root Hub, and PCS PhoneTree® USB Line
01. Other devices may be present. Close the window.
- Unplug PhoneTree® 's USB cable from the back (or front) of your computer and
try plugging it into a different USB port. Follow Step 3 above.
- Try replacing PhoneTree® 's USB cable with a different USB cable, then follow
Step 3. If this works, call PCS for a replacement USB cable.
- Try verifying the USB ports on your computer by using another USB device
in the same port(s) that you tried for PhoneTree®. See if this other device
shows up in the Device Manager as described above in Step 3.
- If you have tried all the above steps and so far none of them have worked,
please call PhoneTree® Customer Service.
